Courtesy of: Alan Everett. Uploaded: May 2008

The photo was taken in the garden of Ferndale, Bream in the 1930s. St James church is in the background.
Alan thinks that there may be a connection with Princess Royal Colliery.

Thanks also to Len Olley who added (May 2008): "I worked in the office of the Princess Royal from 1943-46 and hazard a guess that this photo is of the staff around 1940.  I suggest names as follows (having not seen any of them since 1946):
Row 1 position 1 Arthur Hussey(?)
Row 1 position 4 Percy R Moore (Managing Director)
Row 1 position 5 possibly Gwilliam James (Chief Pay Clerk)
Row 1 position 6 I confirm is Clifton Morse
Row 2 position 2 Jackie Morgan
Row 2 position 3 Norman Fewings (confirmed)
Row 2 position 4 Eddie Lewis (Chief Clerk)".

Thanks also to Tom Willetts.

Thanks also to Anne Soo who added (June 2009): "... John Henry Fewings ( my great grandfather) retired from his position as Secretary of the Princess Royal Colliery in 1937 so this photo would have been taken around then . Ferndale was the name of his home in Bream".
